Cary Kwok (b.1975, Hong Kong) is a visual artist based in London.
His work is most notable for its unmistakable style in which meticulous detail is rendered using an everyday ballpoint pen.
Kwok’s drawings often depict particular subject matter such as period fashions, hairstyles, women’s footwear and the male nude.
He was born and raised in Hong Kong where he attended a footwear course before moving to London in the mid 90s to study fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He graduated in 2001 with an MA in Fashion Design (Womenswear).
Kwok’s work has been exhibited in many of the world’s leading private and not-for-profit galleries including Galerie Emanuel Perrotin, Hauser & Wirth, Taro Nasu, Herald Street, FLAG Art Foundation, the ICA, Studio Voltaire and Tate Britain. His work has been featured in a myriad of art titles and Visionaire 46, guest edited by Mario Testino.
