FIG Newsletter September 2007
Through September at 97 Golborne Road, London, W10, FIG presents a little exhibition of drawings made by David Downton that have never previously been exhibited. Included in the group are works made by Downton for The Times and American Vogue alongside a charming little watercolor featuring Kate Moss and Karl Lagerfeld hand in hand. Following the Downton show presentations of work by Tanya Ling and Francois Berthoud will take place in November and December. Dates to be announced. |

A single work titled, 'La méche et la bouche', indian ink and watercolor on paper by Rene Gruau made during the Eighties was sold at the Christie's sale, 'Important 20th Century Decorative Art & Design', in June, New York, this year. The work achieved a record price. Printed in the catalogue the high estimate read $10,000, however the much greater sum of $78,000 was achieved!
