Archive, FIG’s milestone 10th auction, comes mid-lockdown here in the UK. Hoping that we're now accelerating away from the pandemic, there’s a little spring in our step, as we present FIGA 10. We’ve asked our artists to revisit some of their past work and pick out the drawings and paintings that until now, have been hidden away. These works sparkle, stand out, deserve our attention and a new home.

As with every auction we endeavour to introduce a new artist to our enterprise and FIGA 10 is no exception.  We are delighted to welcome into the fold, Manuel Santelices. Santelices is a Chilean artist and journalist who has been living and working in New York for the last 20 years. Since writing for Harper’s, Vogue, Elle and Esquire about style, design, art and politics Manuel has picked up a a paint brush and a set of water colours to make pictures about the characters that continue to fascinate him. There’s a beautiful little painting of a room in the home of the late British art historian, John Richardson, and an ink on paper homage to Helmut Newton’s photo of Elsa Peretti in a bunny custom for Playboy magazine, with ciggie falling from her lips.

Other highlights in our sale also include four fashion illustrations by Caroline Andrieu, a collection of postcard drawings by Jacky Blue, collages from the studio of the brilliant John Booth and gouache on paper works featuring the people and places that charm us most from the world of Jordi Labanda.
